This is a 1940s vintage rounded skirt western saddle. The richly toned mahogany-brown leather is stunning with the hand tooled pattern. This saddle will make an eye-catching decorative display piece to enrich a western ranch home. *This saddle is also functional, serviceable, and could still be ridden if one had a horse with conformation that the saddle would fit.
About the maker: In 1868, James Keyston began Keyston Bros. in what was the bustling western mecca of San Francisco, CA. Through acquisition over the years, one of which was HH Heiser Saddlery in 1950, quality Keyston brand saddles and cowboy gear continued to be produced until 1999.
*the only not original part on the saddle is the “rope strap” (it’s a leather strand with buckle to hold a lariat to the pommel). This saddle is in absolutely beautiful condition for its age and it is original.
